About this reference

Dimensions is a cross-disciplinary reference for the measurements that shape the built environment — the widths, heights, clearances, and slopes that architects, interior designers, landscape architects, furniture designers, and accessibility consultants all rely on. Rather than scattering this knowledge across a dozen references, this site brings the most commonly needed figures into one searchable, visual library.

How it’s organized

Every dimension belongs to one of 5 categories:

Architecture
Core building dimensions: doors, stairs, corridors, ceilings, and structural clearances.
Interior Design
Room layouts, furniture clearances, and spatial planning guidance for livable interiors.
Accessibility & Universal Design
ADA and universal design standards: clear widths, reach ranges, turning space, and ramps.

Reading a dimension entry

Each entry lists one or more values, tagged as a minimum, maximum, recommended, standard, or rangefigure, given in both imperial and metric units. A schematic diagram illustrates what is being measured, and related dimensions are cross-linked so you can move between connected values (for example, a door’s clear width and the corridor it opens onto).
